She was unhappy in her marriage to Charles, and talked about this in public, which was embarrassing for the royal family who believe in keeping quiet about such matters. They would probably have prefered her to be more discreet. Also, I think she probably didn’t have a lot in common with most of them, since she was not fond of horses, dogs, country pursuits etc. And what with the bulimia etc they probably found her a bit of a trial.
