How Would You Describe Your Family Of Origin?

I am writing a term paper for a class and it asks to give a brief description of your family of origin. Was just wondering what else I could write besides who was in my family. Should I describe each person or describe family patterns. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I come from a long line on Miners, Coal on my maternal side, and Coal, Iron, Copper, China Clay and Tin on my Paternal side.

I would start by telling a little about my parents-when and where they were born and married, how many children they had; then do the same for your grandparents. If you know when your ancestors first came to this country, tell about that. Try to find out where they came from, and why they left to come here. Does your family have any traditions (such as eating a special dish for certain holidays, doing certain things for special occasions) or heirlooms that have been passed down? You could tell what you know about them. Does your father have the same type of job as his father and grandfather, etc? Little things like that can help to bring your family to life in the paper.
    Good luck with it.
