How To Differentiate Reputation, cost And What College Will Be The Best For Your Major?

Sometimes I just feel so wrapped up in thinking about a college’s reputation, over what college i should go to. Whenever I feel interested in a college i find out that it’s a “party school” but isn’t every college one to a degree? I just don’t know how to know if I’ll really like a school or not…

I think to some extent most schools are party schools. Some more than others. The ones that aren’t often are schools where students tend to commute rather than live on Campus.
The college that meets your needs is the college for you. I picked a college that “had every major” since I didn’t know what major to choose. When I did pick a major I was happy cuz they had so many things to pick from I was satisfied in that way. However, there were many things I was not happy about: the school was very huge….too big for me…..but on the other hand it was surrounded by four lakes and we could go canoeing at noon and bike riding at 5 around a different lake and weekends we went sailing on yet another lake. There were lots of clubs to pick from, but the weather was frigid in the winter. The professors were internationally known and I was taught (in some cases) by Nobel prize winners. That was good on the one hand, but they weren’t very good teachers. Since graduating from that school I have attended several other schools for other classes. Some of them I thought were not challenging…..one was too challenging…..once I dropped a class cuz the instructor spoke with such an accent I couldn’t understand her. One time I dropped a class because I could never find a parking space long enough that I didn’t have to feed the meter in the middle of a class. Get the picture?
You can”t cover every base. Pick some things that are priorities for you. Make a list. I don’t know what is important to you, but maybe distance, price, choice of majors, ranking according to a list you trust….etcetera.
Only YOU can decide….or if your parents are paying, then THEY do. Lead a good life, do what you can, be true to yourself, and don’t worry. Learn from your mistakes, and do your best. Just because someone else picked a school doesn’t mean it’s the right choice for you,. Good LucK!
