How Many College Graduates Currently Work In The Field That They Majored In?

The reason I ask is because something like 90% of college graduates eventually end up working in a career completely unrelated to what they majored in.
Why do people end up doing that? You would think that picking your major involves picking something that you’d love to do later on, and/or at least something that would be dependable. My majors were in Finance and Management (currently wrapping it up) and my career is currently in banking, and I’m very happy with both, so I’m kind of bucking the trend here.
Is there anyone else who is in the same situation, or anyone here who is working in a field completely different from what their majors were. Thanks everybody.

At my college I majored in Journalism. I graduated with a Liberal Arts degree since I was in a community college that didn’t offer Journalism as a degree.
Although I am not writing for a newspaper I am still doing what I wanted to do for a career: write. I am a writer/editor working with tour company where I live. It may not be reporting but at least I’m writing and I love my job to boot.
