I am currently a college junior and will be having my first baby in late august. I was just wondering from other student-mothers how many credit hours you would recommend that I take during the fall semester. I am planning on doing mostly online courses, and I will not be working more than 15 hours/week if at all. I am currently majoring in family dynamics and human development, and in the past I have found myself able to manage around 14-16 credits comfortably.

Well, I’m also a college student and also due in late August.
The main thing that I considered is that the fall semester starts at the end of August, so if I have the baby right when school starts I know I’ll want to take some time off immediately after having the baby. So you should consider when the semester starts and if you’ll be ready to go back to school right after having your baby.
Like with my school, if I miss the first class (which I could since I’m due so close to when the semester starts) I would be dropped from the class. Also, if you have to miss a few days you could fall behind pretty quickly.
Personally, I’m considering just taking the semester off. If I do take classes I’ll probably only take one. I really want to be home alot during my babies first few months of life, and since I’m not working it would be really nice to get that time with my baby.
Online courses are a great option though. I think maybe taking 2 or 3 online classes would be good for you. I think you’ll probably want to spend alot of time with your newborn and you might enjoy taking it easy for the first few months. You can always get back in full swing for spring semester.
Good luck!
